Thread: Estibot - Any Good?

I was just curious as to whether anyone uses etibot.com and whether or not its accurate in the prices that It comes up with.

I had a play around with a couple tonight and it seemed to be pretty much what I would expect the domains to be worth that I checked. But just wondered what the more experienced members think of it and whether its a reliable source.... I see people quoting it all the time on DP.

It is a mere guess based on a few factors. I would not rely on it for accurate quotes. People use it on DP to make it look like their domain is worth more than it is.

I compare it to when I use to collect baseball cards. The Beckett guides would say a card was worth $125. Of course, you could never find anyone to pay that much. Value on domains are the same way, it depends on your market and who is willing to buy it.

You can quote it but it does not mean a lot to most people who have any idea of how things really work.

That's what I thought. I just did a few more examples on there. And it said that one domain with no backlinks PR, Traffic or anything was worth about $5000 more than this forum. It wasn't even a particularly good domain either.

I guess really a domain is worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it.

That is what it amounts to. I had one domain that they said was worth $1500. I could not sell it for $60. I ended up selling for $20 just to unload it.

Web sites, base ball cards, antiques, grilled cheese sandwich that looks like the Virgin Mary, all of the above are only worth what you get for it!!!

EstiBot is decently accurate but is best to ask real people. Sometime it over and under appraises.....
