You might have jelsoft after your arse![]()

That's the idea!![]()
Jelsoft ix very flexible. As long it's being used for a good cause that somehow supports (promotes) vBulletin I don't see why they wouldn't allow it.
If I were you, I would have a disclamer at bottom saying something like...
"vBulletinForums.org is not any way affiliated with vBulletin Jelsoft"...

I'd think you would need to develop the forum a little and get activity before selling for big bucks.
Nope, Jelsoft will shut your domain down. I know from experience because we got vbulletinfreelance.com through register.com and not even a day later, we were contacted that we were violating their trademark and they would take legal action etc. We asked why so many other domains out theirs were allowed but not ours...they said because they were grandfathered in because they were there before they got their trademark. They can contact your domain registar without your permission and have your domain cancelled if you don't cancel it first ... and no they won't reinburse you for it either.

Quoted from the Business Manager of Jelsoft:
Good luckThank you for your e-mail.
As has already been said, vBulletin may not be used as it is trademarked. You will not in the footer the ® and this means that there is a registered trademark.
I am sure that you are aware that vBulletin help is available from a number of sources and broadly we welcome all the support that is available and offered. However, sites/forums should not use vBulletin in their URL or site name.
I trust that this is in order and please let me know if you have any further queries.
Kind regards

I've had somebody offer me $2,000 for this domain lol. Think I'm just gonna forget the whole thing though and give up the name to vBulletin. Sounds too risky IMO. vBulletin told me that they asses each case on an individual basis and it depends on the content and what you are doing with the domain.
But if you do not ask their permission like a lot of the sites with vBulletin in the URL they apparently will use any means necessary to enforce closure of the site. So anyone wants to take on vBulletin is welcome to the domain, but for me its just far to risky!

Why wouldn't you sell for 2k and get rid of it than give it for $0 and get rid of it?

Because if it comes back on me I don't wanna be implicated for selling it and making money from it. If i just give it away then I have not profited from it and have not made any money from the vBulletin Registered trademark. Its called covering your ass.
sort of trademark issue i guess
but if you use the domain otherthan for vbulletin software then no problems.. but then if used it in that way i cant see any difference of this domain and just a imaginary domain name which is available to register
Personally, I find when you are dealing with trademark domains, you should send an email to the company asking permission to use their trademark. This can prevent any future issues from arising. Especially if you are going to spend a lot of time trying to sell it, or develop it.
Tom
Doesn't matter what you use the domain for whether its related to vbulletin or not, it is a registered trademark and they can legally tell you that you are not allowed to use it regardless. You can't use their trademark unless you have written permission from Jelsoft BEFORE obtaining the domain name in which they can be pretty uptight about it and more than likely say no. But I guess you really can't blame them as registering a trademark is pretty expensive.
