That $2 is only an intro (1st year) price.. from what I understand renewals are $35 a year. I've also heard it's difficult to transfer those domains out.

According to a post on DNForums, if you don't cancel the domains with Yahoo after you've transferred them out, you'll still be charged!

Word of warning -- after you move them from Yahoo, be sure to CANCEL your accounts for those domains on Yahoo. There's been several posts here and on other forums of Yahoo still charging for domain renewal after the domain has been moved.
The code you need to move the domain is already on the domain listings in your Yahoo domain account so you can move it immediately.

Anyone have direct experience they can share with us?

I do. Yahoo is TERRIBLE their service is the worst I have ever seen. I regged my first domain with them. I wouldnt reg a domain with them even if it was free.

I have a friend who had also regged a domain with them and they were recently (just a couple months ago) charged 34.95 for renewal when the domain still had 6 weeks before it expired.

I would explain more but I am just about to get offline for the night.
