Question Domain Name Redirect! Bad Idea?

    Domain Name Redirect! Bad Idea?
Okay I just registered 2 related domain names in terms of popular and relevant keywords in my market and redirected them to my main website. But is it okay that I'm using keyword related domain names for redirection to my main website? The reason I ask is because someone told me after I did it it was bad for search placement for my main url. Then I hear the exact opposite from someone else. Any advice?

If done properly it can be great, I however would only want/allow the search engines to index one of the domains.

Okay do I need to restrict those 2 redirect domain names in the htaccess file? Or do I edit the default html doc and restrict bots? Or do you have another idea that is more effective? Thanks!

Nevermind on that question. Duh.. Since they are just domains I can't access them deep enough to effect them. Since they don't have hosting. Any other advice would be welcome! Thanks...

Simply have them be permanent redirects to the primary domain.

I also use recently expired domains for my redirects..especially when they have a lot of indexed pages in google/yahoo/msn etc!
I try to find expired domains related to my keywords..that way I can get cheap traffic just for the price of registration!

That is why you need to use a perm redirect.
