What do you think? I find longer names easier to remember than ones that are simply initials but not everyone likes that. Two or three words are fine in my book.

I want to share this and I hope it might help you...
I spent a lot of time thinking about my domain name. Whether I should have a long one or short one. I can see that most of you believe that a short one is better.
For me it was between a short name, easy to remember. And a long name, more descriptive.
In the end I chose the long one, because I think that most website names do not get passed along by word of mouth. Especially niche ones. I figured that most of my visitors will come by reference from the Internet and not two people talking at a party exchanging websites they like.
Other advantages with long ones is that you have much more options because not too many long ones are taken. And they stick out more – I find that when I see a long domain name somewhere I usually tend to read it.
Wow, thanks for such a 'long' review
It's really informative![]()

i don't think that long domain names helps.. But a good keyword long domain will surely help
Long domain names (keywords) can be extremely useful if you intend to receive organic traffic from search engines.
However for branding/ advertising - marketers prefer short names.
right! actually short domains are easy to type whereas long domains are easy to remember, so I still can't decide which one is better.

I just read somewhere that if your domain name is longer than 4 words it's doomed.
Here's the article http://www.seohawk.com/blog/google-t...s-seo-factors/
In my opinion long domain names can be useful.
It can tell the user what your site is about just by looking at the name.
Most people prefer short ones, primarily because it is easy to remember.
But, you can always have long domain names that are also easy to remember.

I would say the shorter domain name is the better option. The problem is that most of the shorter ones are already snapped up so you usualy end up looking at longer alternatives. As long as it is not ridiculously long there should be no problem.
A domain should only be as long as it needs to be.. IMO, two or three word keyword domains are fine if a shorter one won't suffice.

Hi,
I think that the domain name importants is not the length of the name but how easy it is for people to remember it and spell it.

I know most of the replays were about remembering the name of the domain, but there are the SEO issue.
I'm not sure how much it really help SEO but I've noticed many websites also created a long version of their website name in order to promote the site in search engine.
Something like www.i-like-riding-bike-in-the-mountains.com for a blog name www.ridebike.com (dont bother to check it, I just made it up
sometimes it can go with i-like-riding-bike-in-the-mountains.yourdomain.com
i think short ones are better. the ease to rem is appreciated. content is still the most important![]()
It depends, if it's easy to remember that doesn't matter if its long or not.
for example - EADBLA-SOFT.COM will be harder to remember than YourOnlineSoftware.com
shorter better
short.. some people need to brush up on thier common sense.
Short names but not abbreviations are better for domain name. Long names are okay but may not be good.
Personally, longer names are harder to remember. A domain should have no more than 3 words; it becomes hard to remember after 3 words.
Of course, if you force a visitor to type it a lot, they will remember your domain name no matter how long it is.
I think that it's longtime i didn't wrote a full domain name in address bar. I usually type the 3 first letters and chose it from the list, and most of the time I find the website on search engine so it's just a click and if I like the website I register or add to favorites, when i forget the domain name I just search the registration e-mail confirmation :content:

small domains are more better then long ones.
depends if its long and easy to remember then its good ..
By rule of thumb: the shorter the better.
It's easier to remember.
I don't think so. Because people don't want to remember the complex things.A good domain name should be simple and easy to remember and write, in this way, your website can get more people to login.
shorter domain name is much better than long...because it is easier for the user to remember..
who say that? the short is the better
but this day, shorter words are rare, thats why we hard to register it available
I still prefer a short one and do not recommend a long domain name. After all,it's hard to
remember if the domain is too long. But it doesn't mean that a short domain is good or a
long domain is bad.It still depends on.But you should guarantee at least one point:it's
catchy and easy to remember.Or it'll be a failure.

Well the length of a domain is one thing and the keywords in a domain is another thing some long names are way better than short names. But again short names are the best like the 3-4 letters.
Shorter for brand name recognition, even for hitting a single key word or phrase. Longer for hitting more of a general keyword phrase or phrases can be great for affiliate programs where you depend on seo traffic and not word of mouth, or the customer coming back IMHO
They are both better, just be sure that its descriptive with your niche. And I do believe that it still depends on how you gonna promote your site.![]()
I think whatever you pick for a domain is what you pick longer or shorter doesn't matter.
Yea, shorter or longer doesn't matters. Your domain name should be appealing and can be remembered very easily whether it's longer or shorter.
You should choose 2-3 words, much better than a longer name. It is easier to find and to search, like what I do. I made a website and I only use 2 words.

I think short domain names are very useful !
Well, as long as no more than 3 words, I think it's fine to use a long domain name
Having a long domain, which contains keywords for which you optimize can be quite beneficial of your search engine rankings. However, with shorter domains it's possible to create new unique recognizable brand name, just a matter of imagination )
a medium lenght 3-9 letters is ok
i am now with an information that the domain registration in this below site is absolutely free and the service they provide is good, Check out the details here FREE DOMAIN REGISTRATION Hope u would be benefited,Stay safe, Cheers
It's actually thought now that domain names don't really matter. Google doesn't put very much weight on it, simply because they are quality monitors.
