Default Would you be including a domain name containing your site keyword for good SEO?

The thing which I am looking for is indirectly related to the answer of this question yes. Suppose if you are buying a domain. So would be making a website containing a keyword from your site because you believe that it would be good for SEO? will you do that ?

Keyword domains perform way better than non keyword domains, specially when you have an exact match for a highly searched term.

Another point - it does help in rankings, and as long as that is the only thing you want to promote the site with, then go for it. Otherwise, you may want to consider a more generic phrase that can cover more topics in that particular vertical.

While having keywords in your domain name is great for search engine rankings, I would say that it is better to have a domain name that is easy to remember and highly brandable.

Keywords in the domain tend to look spammy imho, unless care is taken. Sometimes it can work, but Arwen speaks words of truth. ^

I am going to try to answer that question, but I am pretty new to internet marketing, so you'll have to double check other sources.

All of my sites so far with the keywords in the url have been index and is currently ranking in the first two pages of google. All of the sites that do not have the keywords in the url have not gone anywhere. I used the same marketing approach for all of them, so I would say that having a url is a big advantage.

What kind of sites are we talking about here?

Are they both in the same niche? Do both kind of sites get the same love and attention from you. Do they have the same content? Are they even in the same niche? Are they targeting a popular keyword?

Sorry for all the questions. :fine:

Having a keyword in your domain name does help. Your statement said it all though... big companies don't need to relate - they are big. Big companies have lots of inbound links, a keyword rich URL does not benefit them as much as the little guys.

Depends on the site whether you go for a keyword or brandable domain. Keyword domains though help rankings significantly though.

If you can find a good domain name including something that relates to the core business of a website, i would go for that. But in the end its the content and marketing of a website that will make it a succes.

    It does help.
I have a small nich site that got on page one with no backlinks at all. Just because the URL had the specific keywords in it. Ok it wasnt a highy tageted keyword but it proves the point.

If you have a business that does not rely on repeat custom then i think its fine.

Yes, If the domain consists the keyword it is better. But as your site gets bigger with more articles, as far as I have seen and experienced, it won't matter much.

Always using a keyword is better.

Almost all my domains have the keyword in it.

I think it helps rank better.

This is my opinion about it as well because if its isn't easy to remember then it won't matter much because they will find your site once and forget about it. So, if your site is easy to remember, has a keyword used as a domain and brandable, you got yourself a winner.
