Domain Search at godaddy

Hi All,

OK what at the chances of this?

I spent a bunch of time looking up names at godaddy. I found a few 47 to be exact .info/.com/.org that I thought would be good to buy. When I when to buy them a few days later all 47 were gone. I found one that they wanted $3500 saying it was a premium name.

Do you think they buy what you serch for if you don't buy the name ASAP.

I just thought it was odd all 47 names sold that I wanted.

What is your thought?

Domain search data is sold to domain companies. They then use domain tasting to make a fast buck. What they do is to register the domain and hold it for the 5 day grace period.

Don't search if you're not ready to buy.

TRUE, they flag any decent available domains and buy 'em.

I got stung with two decent .com's. Went back a few days later and they had been registered.

Sadly its true as we found out the hard way with using networksolutions and that is exactly why I do not search unless I plan on buying otherwise, I don't want to risk a good domain name to go to someone who may be just money hungry and try to sell it at a ridiculous price.

Damm......I wish I would of known, So No safe way to search to see unless you have money?

That Stinks I wish I would of had the the money at the time.

You could you a whois site that is independent of the domain registrars. Search on the .com and it will show the other tlds that are available without directly querying. Also, don't search on the same domain more than once. Of course, you are always running a risk.
