Thread: Product Number Domain Names

Has anyone ever heard of using product number domain names?? I guess this is a good tactic for some people. Has any had sucess with this??

My question with this would be, if the product you are selling is not yours, even if you are trying to just promote it and you still don't own the rights to whatever product it is, how could you have a domain name with the specific product # in it?

Ideally it makes sense, but wouldn't the manufacturer's website of this specific product also show up in SERP's, for the specific product # before your domain name having this same product #?

The manufacturer's site will be more reputable than your site, their site would have been around longer than yours, also they have a larger budget allocated towards SEO and Online Marketing than any single webmaster could muster out.

There would be no way to compete with the manufacturer's website no matter how much SEO or Money you put into a Product Number Domain Name or website.
