Default Email with Domain name without page?

    Hello,

If i wanted to have email sent to a registered domain without a page/content, is this feasible.

Say I register a name at Godaddy, how would I go about having an email address go along with to it.

Would I have to have a hosting site also, or could I buy the domain, and buy email possibly from Godaddy also.

Say its QuestionaboutGodaddyemail.com could i then have email sent there with out a site?

    Thanks

Yes you can email from a domain without a website. You don't actually need a website site to run email through the domain. Half of my domains are just redirects but I still get email at the domain.

Most of the larger registrars include a free email address with domain purchase. Setup one as a catch all so you can email from *@domain.com

    Hope it helps,

    Hi;

You can use gmail, go to http://www.google.com/apps/intl/en/group/index.html then register your domain and enter CNAME codes to your domains registries

Exactly what I was going to suggest. You don't need a host for a site. Just be sure to set the MX Records to your Email Provider. Google Apps is a great free service to use.

All you have to do is sign up via the link provided by Kaberdey, verify you own the domain via a CNAME and set your MX Records to:

    1 -ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM
    5 - ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM
    5 -ALT2.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM
    10 -ASPMX2.GOOGLEMAIL.COM
    10 - ASPMX3.GOOGLEMAIL.COM
The numbers on the left represent the priority you would set in the DNS panel

If you already have a web host, you can park the domain onto that host's servers and use the CPanel e-mail client which allows you to create a "yourname"@yoursite.com

If you don't you can simply get stand alone email. I know many places including myhosting.com who give email services. I know Yahoo also offers this service but it will most definitely cost you more since they overcharge most of the time.
