Thread: Future domain names

Do you register domain names that you think might be worth something in the future? I have a few including one related to the psp2.

I do now and then, but not too much lately.

Even when I did that back in the 90's when the domain pool was still fresh I still ended up losing a few really good ones when I stopped doing web stuff for a while way back when. I wish I still had them now.

I mainly buy to develop & keep as part of my network of sites. I do occasionally sell to an end user that see's one & makes an offer I can't refuse though. Other than that, I monetize all my sites / domains so that they pay for their own renewal fee every year Plus bring in profits. (Currently I only have 17 developed domains)

I wish I had jumped in back then, good names are even worth more now seeing most of them are already taken. Still have a few with the hope they will be good money some day.

I too wish I registered the good domains back then when they were available for like $10 a pop. Some domains I thought of would have been worth at least $xxx,xxx today!

That is a HUGE profit that I missed out on.

Then the trick is to predict the next big thing, but you have to invest and you will lose money. But if you don't play you can't win.. except for wargames.

That's kind of what I do. I have a small portfolio of sites and I just focus on those.

Even if I was in past and registered domain google.com they'll register moomle.com eg and my google.com will cost nothing, sure not a reg fee, but in comparison

I think it's unpredictable, the best way to make your own big project and then this domain will be pricy in future)

Talking about taking chances on domains, I grabbed a few marijuana domains hoping California passes Prop. 19.

it is unpredictable for this.
