Server upgrades

I am upgrading some of the server software atm.

Hopefully it goes off without a hitch, if anyone has any issues please let us know.

Would this have anything to do with why I keep ending up on the front page?..
Its has happened a good few times over the last couple of days, when using
the navbar link to my CP or opening a thread. Its not a big deal more of a minor irritation.

That would have nothing to do with it. I just upgraded it now.

As far as 'why' the above is happening, I have never had it happen, but maybe C can chime in when she's on.

I've run into the same situation from time to time. I think it has something to do with security. If I load several (20+) threads in new tabs at the same time the last 5 or so show the homepage. Normally after a minute or two it clears itself up then I refresh the affected pages and everything is cool.

Ahh, looking at our .htaccess file I see we may want to change some things. We have many error codes redirecting to the index.php 'my fault I'm sure'

If we had some error pages we could figure out what it is perhaps

It corrects itself after i reload the page, Like I said its not really a problem, at least I get the page after reloading. What browser are you using Dan?.

It's happened to me many times, thought I was alone in it happening, though this is the only place it's ever happened to me.

I never knew why, I had to force a refresh multiple times to make it go away and show the right page.

So yeah, I guess we'll be adjusting our .htaccess if it's the cause.

This upgrade sure appears to have made this server faster, under less of a load plus using less memory!

I did the same or similar to another server of mine, good results as well.

Doing it to a third right now.

Faster loading pages = more $$$!

I haven't had any redirects to the front page at all today, page are loading rapid style too.

Removed some lines from .htaccess and set-up custom error pages, along with whatever Grim did, hopefully this fixed the problem you and I were having.

I upgraded my third server and wow things are loading so much faster on that one as well!

I had the index page redirection issue at siteownersforums a while ago... cleared my cookies and it stopped... not sure if that's the same problem though...

Glad to hear.

I'm still shocked, loads are down, memory usage is down, yet speeds are better.

I fully expected a bit more load and memory use for the increased speeds/security.

This is pretty bad, but I dreamed last night that I was being redirected, was clicking UserCP but it was showing the forum index, wow those memories must haunt me! :laugh-e:
