Thread: Facing Interesting problem with WTF now a days

For the past 2 - 3 weeks whenever I open this forum my firefox get hang/stuck for few seconds and then it starts working and again few seconds it hangs, like this

working ---> not working --> working ---> not working... and go on

And when I close the tab firefox becomes stable and doesn't hang again.

Is it MY firefox problem or something wrong with WTF?

anyone else facing this kind of problem?

Server load is low, WTF is loading fast as hell for me, not a single problem on this end

I use Firefox and don't ever have this problem, Jani. Have you cleared your cache and rebooted in that time?

Yup, 100% agreed that this forum loads FAST for me too, but why does my Firefox stuck whenever I open this forum

Now when I am typing this msg my browser has already hanged for 3 times

yes, have cleared cache, cookies, browsing history, download history... everything and many times, but no result.

I think I have got some kind of spyware/virus who is disturbing.

Yes, I have rebooted many times. I even have opened ONLY WTF in firefox with no other site open in tabs, but still it hangs.

Have you defragmented your computer anytime recently? It helps when I have issues like this.

Yes, I already have done a lot to solve the issue

I have defragmented the drives, delete all offline contents, delete all temporary files, delete the PREFETCH folder, cleared cache, cookies, EVEN RE-INSTALLED firefox.... but no result.

Additionally I installed spybot search & Destroy, ad-aware, spyware doctor, updated norton antivirus and scanned my pc but they also didn't find any harmful thing in my PC.

I am really not kidding that I have done all these things, it is really happening here with me.

I believe you that it's happening, however everything I see is nothing short of blazing speed. Bar none WTF is the fastest forum I frequent.

Don't think you're kidding, trying to narrow down possibilities to help you, can't help you without information.

I use Firefox and I have never had a problem. Like Grim said, pretty fast

I use Firefox too, No probs here.. WTF loads instantly.. + I use the Web Developer plugin with Cache disabled most of the time..

Try upgrading to FF3? :P

Wish I knew what the problem was. Have you tried a different browser?

Yes, it is working fine in Internet Explorer.

Do you have any add-ons/extensions installed in Firefox? If so, can you tell me what they are?

Hey, I just noticed that IE is also getting hanged... I think it is the problem on MY end, not with WTF.

Same here. Even when typing his msg, I've to stop a couple of times because it hung.
This is not because of my computer or browser though.

All other sites loads just fine, only WTF is having this problem.

Which forum skin and postbit do you guys have set?

I want to narrow down if it's a forum skin/theme issue or not.

Yes, I am using your mentioned theme for the past few minutes and it is not hanging at all.

I don't see how a site could possibly 'stall' while typing. The site is already loaded and I would think would be on the users end, should have nothing to do with the site, skin, or server.

Slower than DP? For me it's instant load times, DP hangs and hangs and hangs.

The live ajax features may have caused it once a page is already loaded, since they're changing stuff on the page even while you view it.

Jani, we have a lot of features here, so it will be tough to narrow down which one is causing it, if it is indeed the skin, we'll have to wait longer and see if it happens for you in the skin I got you to use, that's the default vbulletin skin with no edits by me.

I think it's possible the ajax feature which makes the "currently active users viewing this thread" box update without loading the page, could be causing issues, but I'd like you to give some more time using the default vbulletin skin before I go looking into it.

I get that, but that would still come back to the users system not being able to process the info fast enough, would it not?

I'm not too sure, I know it causes more queries, but it shouldn't affect anything, I don't know enough about ajax.

But anytime my browser hung on any website, I just rebooted and it fixed, it was always on my end.

But I am worried it's the plugin I mentioned.

Im having the exact same problem, and its only WTF that freezes
weird thing is that im using IE7 not firefox
I think its the liveupdate thing that they activated recently

The feature causing the problems has just been removed, going by what others have reported, it can cause a lag on more active forums, I wasn't sure that applied to us or not, so I guess it does.

The third theme, which was for testing only, has been disabled, we don't want members using it as it has no additional features.

If there's still problems, let me know.

Great, I have started using it and it is working smoothly so far.

I had no idea that the problem I am facing is really that much serious and others are also facing it. I am happy I talked about it and got is solved
