Thread: This server sucks

Server has gone from being rock solid to gradually getting worse and worse. My provider knows all about it, they are supposed to perform a swap of the hd's into a totally new server to see if it fixes the problems.

If it doesn't I am already lining up a new provider and server should I need to axe the server.

Are you referring to the server this forum is on? Several times over the past few days (and just moments ago) I have been unable to access this site "DNS lookup error"

Yes.

This server was once very reliable. Lately however it has become less and less reliable.

I believe it was yesterday or the day before I forget which one the provider ran hardware scans and came up with no errors.

It's really pissing me off and costing me $$$!

Yes me too have noticed that the forum has been rather unstable the last couple of days. Load times seem much longer and sometimes it does not load at all. Hopefully this will be sorted soon. I know how much of a pain it can be when you pay a lot of money for a server and it doesn't work how it should.

I am off loading another one of my forums hosted on this server to one of my other servers. Loads have not however been an issue so it's doubtful that it will help.

That's weird because load times for me on here have been really bad, but other forums I use have been okay

IDK what to say load times here have been excellent for me, only slow during the brief outages.

Load times here are way, way faster for me than any other forum I use.

I haven't noticed any problems, but then I am not here constantly

The speed is great here for me when it opens. However, I have ran into a lot of errors trying to get to the forum in the last week or so. I thought it was on my end so I never mentioned it.

WTF has always been pretty spiffy for me. A couple times I've got servfail errors for these nameservers though. Servers are like women you cannot live with them and cannot live without them.

Dude go with ServInt you won't be sorry. I got an email from them a couple weeks ago telling me I was having a issue with one of my databases before I even noticed and they fixed it less than an hour after I gave them to okay.

Is this slow too? Professional Web Design | Kalina Web Designs, I ask cause it's the same server and I want to guage if anything about WTF is contributing to the forum's speed or not. It's fast for me.

IDK loading fast as hell for me. Little outage which continues to happen has not changed the overall loads of speeds by any measure I can see.

Loaded super fast for me. The forum is most of the time too. It is just once in a while that I can not access it. I have had no problems today.

The WTF database needed major repairs, we think it's due to a plugin which was removed today as it was causing errors. I repaired the database, hopefully those having problems will experience some improvement.

When I had a forum, many envy bots ddos'ed it, and after doing a lot of scripting expenditure etc. we got it ddos protected, check it once..

This server has ddos protection, it has never, ever been a load issue or bandwidth.

The server from time to time has frozen up/ hung, nothing at all to do with loads or lack there of bandwidth, cpu, memory or anything of the sort.

What are the specs of the server GRIM? What's the swap memory usage like?

Dual Xeon 3 gig with 2 gigs of ram.
It doesn't even really get into swap, no need to.

It is NOT a load issue, there is something amiss on the server. Either a corruption or hardware failure that has caused brief outages.

'very slow'? it's fast as lightening on my end.

GRIM added 1048 Minutes and 45 Seconds later...

Was down again, had to reboot.

Provider will be performing a swap to a new server tonight. WTF will be unavailable for a few hours during this time.

If this does not fix the situation I am prepared and will be buying a new server 'leasing' from a new provider.

GRIM added 1365 Minutes and 29 Seconds later...

Server was swapped, it's now a dual xeon 2.8 with 2 gigs of ram. 2.8-3.0 should not really make much of a difference.

Will wait and see if that fixes the outages.

Forum was not loading here yesterday. Checked 2 times in the morining as well as in the afternoon.

Server was not down that long, was down when being replaced in the middle of the night.

It seems no one reads! Anyway, the server was switched to another one that day/noon/night, it takes time for those things to happen, I am closing this now to avoid further confusion on this matter.

Because so far, THIS server we're now on, doesn't suck.

Issues continue to plague this server even with the swap.

I am in a rush to purchase a new server with another provider atm.
