If your browse WTF from your mobile, please read! New WTF Mobile Edition

WTF would like to introduce Web Talk Forums Mobile Edition.

What this is, is a very lightweight, very low bandwidth forum style which renders well on the majority of small screen devices from old Nokias to new iPhones.

This forum is now set to detect most mobile phones, iPhones, PDAs and other mobile browsing devices and automatically forward you to our Mobile Edition of the forum. If you are not forwarded automatically while browsing from your mobile device, then simply use mobile.webtalkforums.com or m.webtalkforums.com (shorter to type, thanks Hurley) from your mobile device to browse the forum.

I do not have any way to view this myself from a mobile device so if anyone does, I'd appreciate if you could let me know if everything's ok.

I set it so it only shows 10 threads per page and 5 posts per page in the Mobile Edition.

I tested it from my iPod touch and it works absolutely fine. It redirects to the correct site & shows up without any error whatsoever. Good move, congrats.

BTW, Is there any way I could use the original site (not the mobile version) on my iPod? It's because I like it better.

Swastik, thanks for the feedback, that's good to hear. They said I can allow people to switch if I want, I set it to no, I didn't think anyone would want to, I will go see if I can adjust the settings to get it working so you can switch if you want.

Because I have it set to automatically detect, it won't allow the skin to be changed, I just tried.

Ok whoever turned on WTF mobile edition needs a spanking! I usually browse WTF on my iPhone, and now it defaults to the mobile edition which is very limited. I can't see the top panel with latest threads since my last visit, etc... Can you make this mobile edition optional? Like with a different URL or something?

PLEASE let the user select the normal version. The mobile version is SO limited on my iPhone

That can be done but the only thing is it won't force a style upon mobile users and not everyone is going to know the mobile domain, so what do you suggest?

I can remove the force and then provide a link to the mobile domain in the footer, would that be enough?

that would be possible, how about m.webtalkforums.com as well? Can we redirect to use both?

It only allows one, and it doesn't allow redirecting, I don't know if redirecting M to it would cause problems but can check it out.

I'll go remove the mobile detection but mobile users will no longer be directed to the mobile version, they will have to know to use a sub-domain, that's the only bad thing about not using the detection.

We can setup a redirect in cpanel, m.webtalkforums.com to redirect to mobile

That's set-up. I removed the force detection but it's not allowing me to change the style while browsing the mobile domain. It seems that plugin messed something up even though it's removed, because before putting it in last night I could change the style on the mobile domain.

It might take me awhile to figure this out but if it's too long I'll have to get back to it some other time cause I have to get some work done for a client.
