Thread: WTF Blogs?

Can someone tell me more about the WTF Blogs, and how it works? Are any other member utilizing their blogs?

Would like to know what is about before i sign up for it, because I never had, used or maintained a blog in my life.

I consider forum blogging to be mini-blogging. It doesn't have the power of Blogspot or WordPress. You basically go to Webmaster Forum - Blogs and all of the options for starting one are there.

Thanks, I just tried to access the Blogs and it is saying that I do not have permission. I thought that only a minimun of 50 post were required to partake in having your own blog on WTF,

I have over 130 posts already

If not, can you paste the error message?

This is the error message that I am getting

Do I need an administrator to grant me access to my blog?

I can't see why it doesn't work. You might want to send a PM to grim with a link to this thread. He's the admin.

Ok well how do I get the link to this thread in order to copy it and paste it to him? Or could you do it for me, since you have more priviledge than I?

In the future, you can always copy and paste the URL from your browser address bar to link to a thread.

As far as linking goes I suppose you can do what you want as long as it's relevant and not spammy.

Still not having any luck in being able to access my blog. Also my attempts to track down an adminstrator have been to no avail.

How can I gain access to my blogs here on WTF? I already passed the minimum post requirementissy:

UPDATE: seems to be working now

Damn, Still Not Working for me!!! What did you do to get it to work for you?

It takes time for the cron to run before all of the posts are counted. It's been quite a while, though. It should be working by now.

I just retried right now and it is still not working

It is possible that the blog feature needs you to wait for a cron job to be done (to check who has over 50 posts) - which could take up to a week depending on the settings of the forum. So if you passed the 50post mark within the last week then this could be why.

I'm sure Grim will look into this as soon as he sees this thread.

Oh Ok Thanks, atleast I got some kind of feedback about the blogs not giving me access. Wow, so that is how it works, one would think that on a public forum the system should check itself more often than 1 week.

I don't know if it is a week that it's set to, but I know that cron jobs put a fair bit of pressure on the server resources, and to conserver resources Grim may have changed the settings so that the blog recognition feature only goes every so often.

It is also possible that you need to have been a member for a certain number of days (as well as post count) to be able to post a blog.

As said, it'll need to be Grim that has a look into this, and I'm sure he will once he is online.

Ok, I think I have access to my blog now. I have not submitted anything to my blog though because of fear.

I do not know what we are/are not allowed to with the blogs.

Is there a link or a resources to what we can and cannot do with the blogs?

Also is there something that can show me how to use all of the features and what they do?

Theres only the FAQ about blogs

Really we don't mind what you use the blog for - as long as it's not blatently spam/filled with lots of links and abides by the rules of this forum. Anything you could post in the forum can be posted in a blog - that means that there are restrictions about competing forums, porn, gambling and any illegal activity website.
