Thread: We are back online!

Hey everyone,

First off, I am extremely sorry for the delay in this upgrade. The forum gave out so many errors due to many of the changes made before the upgrade. Ive been working hard for the last few days having to fix them.

As you can see, WTF has a completely new feel. We are now running vbulletin 4.1.2 and are running a new theme as well as many new plugins. Heres whats new and whats been changed.

New:

- Forum Software
- Theme
- Forum Toolbar ( on the bottom of your screen. ) Which can:
-- Instant message with added forum friends.
-- Join the chatrooms and talk with other forum members. ( Note. That the chatrooms are for small talk only! Real forum discussions belong in the forums )
-- View Announcements
-- Play Games
-- Share the page your viewing
-- Instantly translate the page you are viewing ( coming soon. Fixing at the moment )
- Link Directory: Anyone can add their site links in there.
- Itrader
- Advanced Forum Statistics
- Doublepost prevention

Whats been changed:

- You now need 50 posts and to be a member for 3 days before you can use a signature. This change was made due to too many people signing up just to add a sig link and making rubbish posts. If you just want a link out of the forum, use our link directory. Don't make rubbish posts, keep them to a high standard.

- You need 100 posts to become a Promoted member now rather then 50.

- Direct banner sales. ( temporary. ) I need to resetup advertising on the site. Advertisers who bought advertising before the upgrade will receive extra advertising time once it has been resetup.

Whats been removed:

- Arcade
- GameRoom
- Thanks ( coming back soon )
- Every other plugin that was being run before the upgrade.

My main aim is to make WTF a more professional webmaster and internet marketing forum. Therefore many plugins have gone and changes have been made to see it onto this path.

I am also currently working on the private internet marketing section will be a paid to access forum. This forum will have many exclusive methods for making serious money online.

I hope everyone likes the changes and once again Im sorry for the delays. Please contact me if you find any bugs.

I forgot to mention, that some people may be missing profile pictures and avatars. Im sorry if this happened but some of these were lost in the upgrade.

Hey, quick question:

Could you re-upload the favicon? I just see the standard VB one since the upgrade.
I use them a lot (I generally have lots of tabs open, it's much easier to tell them apart from the favicon), I'm sure I'm not the only one either.

Sure thing mate, will need to dig around the backups I made to find it though. I think I may have accidentally overwritten it. If thats the case I have saved images of it that I can easily turn into a favicon. Or might get a new one to match the theme.

The new theme is much nicer. However I don't see a point of having a thanks button and a reputation system both in place at the same time.

Another suggestion, I think most people will agree that the smilies used at the moment aren't cool at all. The default smilies that come with VB4 are much better IMO.
I wish you best of luck with the forum and hope we will see more fun stuff and activity here and less spam from now on. :happystrange:

Ive deleted the old smilies and uploaded the default vb4 ones. The old ones were ones that were setup before I owned the site and I forgot to change them.

I voted not sure yet whether I like the changes or not. I mean esthetically I love it, the forum looks beautiful, clean, professional...I like the wider layout as well and color scheme is sharp. I kind of feel lost now after not signing in for so long and getting slapped with all the changes at once, but I will get used to it and adapt.

The google ads right on top of the page threw me off at first glance, I thought I arrived at a different URL, or typed it in wrong, or was redirected to another site, but after assuring myself that I was logged onto WebTalkForums I knew I made it. Navigation seems to be a little difficult for me, trying to find all of the features that I used to be familiar with, and with all of the new things going on kind of got me lost.

I am sad to see that the blog feature is no more, I really liked how it worked and functioned, it also was giving me great exposure online in Google Search for blog posts, as I currently do not have or utilize any blog service or site, hence my only blog online was my WebTalkForums Blog. However, as much as I loved the blog feature on the old WebTalkForums, if it had to be removed in order to ensure the integrity of the forum as a whole then, even though to my chagrin, I will humbly forget it ever existed and move on to the new great things WebTalkForums will offer.

I like the idea of a Link Directory, will check that out after posting this post. The Translation feature sounds like fun and could attract more international visitors from around the globe. I most definately agree with increasing the required amount of post in order to access the signature feature and advance in status.

Keep up the good work, look forward to seeing WebTalkForums grow!

(I noticed that in the inbox when checking private messages, the top section of links which specifies what page your are in [i.e. Page 1, Page 2] are distorted and not where they should be, they blend in with the control panel making them almost not visible, this may cause navigation problems for some...I hope this helps, not sure if you noticed this or not)

Thanks for another great post. Just mainly going to address the private message point. Theres a few problems with the PM layout and such which I am working on fixing. I should hopefully get it fixed up soon.

Ive sent out the email to everyone now. Well I sent it out to everyone with more then 2 posts. Its amazing how many accounts there with under 2 posts.

Some other features Im working on is: Mobile style, TapaTalk ( Iphone / Andorid / Blackberry / Nokia app for accessing the forum ) among other things. Im also looking at soon opening up IMTalkForums.com which will be a partner forum to WTF in which its Internet Marketing Talk Forums.

Wow, this is certainly a step up. Changes are fantastic and I am already liking the feel of the "new" WTF. Keep on doing this and the forum will be back to its former glory

This is great! Read the email this morning and have been itching to come online all day and give it a look through. Really looks nice, I love the feel. Hope activity picks up again

Great! I had the same problem with one of my pages, I hope that it is just a formatting thing and nothing too intensive or involved in correcting.

This sounds fun and interesting. I definately agree with websites allowing and providing their site visitors with accessing their content via multiple mediums and different platforms. It allows for choice and flexibility, plus ensures that anyone can access the site's content anytime and anywhere. Great idea.

Too bad I do not own any of these kinds of phones.

Internet Marketing is definately key in developing one's website, I found the Internet Marketing Forums here on WebTalkForums to be kind of lagging and being utilized by some solely for self-promotion, would you be removing the Internet Marketing Forums from WebTalkForums then?

Now if there was both a domain and forum, which is what I think you are planning on doing, solely dedicated to Internet Marketing Forums, then I can see the potential for discussion generation and serving as a great online resource for webmaster and internet marketing specialists.

Upgrading the forum some awesome feature are being added. Thanks to authority for adding these nice feature through this upgrading.
