I'm confused (what else is new) so if your selling software products or graphics it has to be from here, you can't have the download page on your site? or you just have to be sure to note it that so and so bought something from me?

It's one thing to have one item you're selling, on sale, featured, etc that you link to. We will decide on those on a case by case basis.

It's however a totally different story getting posts that we have been getting that are simply spam posts linking to template sites, and the such.

Well what if you are trying to sell sponsored links on lets say a layout you are releasing on a template site? Would that go thru?

Typically, you would provide a screencap here of the layout and a description of the links you are selling (location in template, how many, etc.) and a link to a working demo if there is one.

The idea is for the sale to take place here (since it is posted here) whenever possible.

Also to fight literal spams, the ones that are nothing more then a link to an online store. Those are not true sales threads, they are spam in every definition.

It may take a bit until all the kinks are worked out, but I'm sure we will get there.

Okay, well zap it's basicly what i meant if you have a live demo you should be able to post it to show your buyer a demo. However putting the url to the site you will release it on wont be necessary but however you could put a logo with "Layoutworks.com" in it for example and not hotlink it

I think that's 100% acceptable as i would not consider that spam nor advertising your site thru the thread as the viewer actually has to put the url in himself.
