WTF Server

Is being spammed, it basically causes a DOS attack! Load averages are out of this world, when I finally was able to connect to the server it was over 130! Since there is only 2 cpu's, both with HT a '4' would be 100% so you can see 130 is way more than the server can handle.

I am going to be tweaking the firewall, updating some scripts, editing some .htaccess files, etc in an attempt to fix this situation.

I hope to have this done by tonight, until then I have rebooted the server in hopes that it will last until then.

Ok blocked a bunch of the spammers, hoping for the best. If I have time I will do some more tonight. So far the load is down greatly..

I blocked the worst of the spammers, I also tweaked a few things, updated a few scripts, etc.

I will continue to watch it

Similiar item happening ATM, tweaked a few things, disabled a website where much of the load was coming to, rebooted server, hope the loads will be better now.

I'm also going to keep my eyes open for a good dedicated server upgrade. I should have gotten the one that was on sale during the holidays!

The WTF server should be plenty, but you can never have too much

Server is going to be getting some updates/upgrades shortly. Some down time might happen.

This should make the server more secure, more stable and faster!

Not all updates are done, however this issue has happened before and the fix was actually the end user 'the member' rebooting their system

Same here, both in IE7 and FF, to go to the forum wants to download something.
Weird.

How are speeds so far? Apache has yet to be updated, not sure if we'll get to that tonight. That should hopefully bring some better performance.

The .htaccess file allows you to load it via /forum it however is not the correct url.

When updating mysql/php the file download error happens, the system still wants to download the file often as it's in the systems cache to.

Cp does not work same problem downloads the php. I have cleared everything you can clear without resetting to default.

When I try to access it via /forum, it's all white and loses the style, it's truly not meant to be seen like that, how do you see the style and images and everything Webster?

It has happened in the past that people have needed to actually reboot.

CP did it for me as well until I tried a second time and then the file download went away.

BTW another reason this was done was to make sure the server is as secure as possible with all the hacking going on
