I will try to answer this for you Sami, sorry if the explanation is a little long-winded but I like to be thorough and give good simple examples on ideas.

E=MC^2 is one of Einstein's Theories of Relativity. This theory falls under the category of Special Relativity.

Basically, what this equation is stating is that Energy and Mass are interchangeable and connected mathmatically.

Meaning that every gram of matter, or any other scale or measurement of weight, has a certain amount of potential stored energy depending on the weight of the object.

This makes sense if you think about, fat in our body is how we store energy. Don't eat for a couple of days and your body will begin to convert this fat into the energy that you need to survive starvation. In turn, as the fat is being burned up and used for energy, you lose weight meaning you have less energy reserves as the energy in the fat is getting used up.

Also think of it like this, have just 1 log in the firepit, not much fire...add 10 logs to the firepit, you have a blazing display of fire and heat energy being given off.

"E" stands for Energy
"M" stand for Mass or weight
"C" stands for a constant, a constant is something that never changes (which is basically the speed of light)
"2" or squared, simply means to multiply the speed of light by the speed of light

The speed of light is exactly 299,792,458 metres per second, or 186,000 miles per second...that is really fast, but more importantly it is a really large number.

So, let us come up with a random mass. Let's say 5 grams.

E = MC^2 is the equation let's include what we already know.

E = 5 grams x (299,792,458 m/s x 299,792,458 m/s)

So with the "E" being the only thing left unknown, thanks to the power of algebra, after doing some math we can devise the exact amount of Energy that a mass of 5 grams posseses.

This equation is what launched the entire world into the nuclear arms race. This equation made it known to all of science that huge amounts of devastating energy could be unleashed with only the smallest particle that has virtually no weight, an atom.

Now the really creepy aspect of this equation is the inverse, which would be the creation of matter from a high energy yielding source. This has never been done before, because we simply do not posses the technology to produce the extremely high levels of energy needed to create matter.

Even if we were able to create the energy needed to create matter, there would be no way, that we know of anyways, to contain this energy and focus it. But with the equation and theory being sound. Many scientists do believe that humans one day will be able to create matter from pure energy.

Only stating the facts people, please I do not want to battle over, politic about, or get comments about "science versus religion" or "creation versus evolution" which is right and which is wrong or people telling me that I am a blasphemer and going to hell, please take it how you wish people! Soul or No Soul, this world and planet are not meant to last forever.
