Free Anti-Spyware

Hi guys,

I'm looking for some good free anti-spyware software.
I have always used SpyBot S&D, absolutely loved it, but about 6-months ago it stopped working and for the life of me I can't fix it. I've tried all ways of reinstalling, but it just doesn't want to know.
I now need an alternative - has to be free to download because I'm a cheapskate.
Any suggestions?

I currently use and love SpyBot: Search & Destory, really sorry it stopped working for you.

This happened to a friend of mine as well

Have you tried clearing the REGISTRY KEY that points to SpyBot after removing it.

Sometimes these REGISTRY KEYS stay in the registry even after the program is uninstalled, this sometimes prevents new similar software from being installed or, when trying to reinstall same software.

The new install of whatever program it is, will read this as being that this computer already has the software installed and hence stops installation.

It looks like you have that software installed, but really you don't

It is completely free to download and use, it both scan, cleans and removes any error in your registry.

Works really well and it pretty fast too, it also gives you the option to defragment your registry after it removes all the errors, which speeds up your entire system load time.

It has lots of other useful tools as well, I mostly use the 1 click-maintenance each and every single time after I install or remove any software from my system.

Keeps the registry clean from pointing to stuff that is no longer there.

You will be amazed at how many unknown registry errors this software will find and remove, the older the system the better this works too

When you run Hijackthis the first time be prepared to reinstall a few things. It don't like things like messenger and a few other programs.

Got a new desktop and got my SpyBot S&D working again.
Guess I'd mangled the last one looking at too many exotic websites.

I use a great program called SuperAnti-Spyware. Its awesome and removes most of the items I find.

I use AddAware and although works with varying results, it never made problems like SpyBot S& D ...
I use and the ZoneAlarm Internet Security (which in itself has built in antispyware)...
