Windows! Windows! :-( Why does everyone run windows?

I myself run nothing but LINUX! Ubuntu 10.04 on my main work horse and Debian Squeeze on my laptop.

    Well, I have a small network set up here with 10 PC's on a 10 port router/modem. (x1 Ubuntu Linux, x2 Win Vista, x7 Win XP) ..

I don't really care for the Ubuntu linux much because it's too old school still where you have to open up a command line and insert code / commands to update it or make additions.

I Don't like Win Vista at all because it uses way to many resources and runs very slow. Even with dual core's & 3gb ram they run slower than my XP's.

I LOVE My Win XP's. They are all pretty much the same specs: 2gb Ram & P4 3.2 ghz processors. They run smooth & much faster than my dual core vista's. My XP's are my #1 choice for working on design projects that require lots of software / resources / rendering.

I haven't tried Win7 yet, but hear great things about it. So, Eventually I'll get one of my units set up to test it.

I don't have any experience with Ubuntu. I can say that CentOS has worked out well for me both as a desktop OS and a server OS. The GUI is smooth and you can update it and do pretty much everything else without having to use the command line. Works OK on a P4.

I agree. Even with some of the newer processors, Windows Vista is garbage. I personally don't have any problem with Win7. I'm just waiting for enough time to go by before the real bugs are discovered. So far so good, though. Many of my customers seem to like it.

Yeah I love that I can still run XP on the old P4 chips with a single core. You're right on target when you say it runs faster than Vista on a 2-core rig.

Go for it. Use a 2-core machine, though. It's not a hog like Vista, but I don't think it is P4 friendly like XP. Though, if you do test it on a P4 please let us know how it goes.

Operating system is really important for every one to run a computer. I use Windows XP for my computer to run programs. This is really better one which I prefer the most. Thanks for sharing the information in this article.
