Which Forum software do you prefer?

I started with phpBB many years ago with 2.x but recently moved to vBulletin from my phpBB3 forum and I've loved it ever since. Much easier to manage and control (our community is pretty big, 400k+ posts) and installing mods and skins is far easier than phpBB

I prefer IPB. I find the admin CP is a lot better and easier to use then vB. Though I also think some of the free forum scripts give good value like MyBB and SMF.

We use mostly vBulletin and IPB for most of our forums, but we've also had very good results with Main Index - FusionBB Community - Powered by FusionBB - They just released the beta version of their 3.0 release, and the features look pretty good. Plus, since it's a slightly less well known script, there are fewer spammers and exploits to worry about.

I have used 3 forum softwares and the best is vBulletin.
It is the most superior one I have ever used.

I highly recommend vB. It is worth every penny.

I'm using PhpBB 2.022 not because its good but because I have modified the crap out of it and can't be bothered changing and I hate the slow speed of the modern forum softwares!

i love vBulletin, it is most complicated and you have many interesting options like colour nickname with html and many other things

Vbulletin all the way without a doubt.

My reasons:

1: Affordable.
2: Easy to learn.
3: Lots of customization/modifications available.
4: Well known with great support
5: Installation process is a breeze.

These are just among the few reasons. I mean the coding for it makes it so easy for people to make their own customizations in which makes it more user friendly in that sense.

Besides VBulletin, I like (and prefer) SMF (Simple Machines Forum).. it's free and has alot of great mods/hacks.

I have run vBulletin, MyBB, phpBB forums in the past. Consider MyBB to be the best! Love the features and ease of use. Very easy to work and doesn't have a bloated feel like vBulletin.

Back in 2005 I started off with PHPbb and after a few months I switched over to vBulletin and never looked back. For me, once I learn program I have a hard time switching over to something else because of the learning curve. My vote is for vBulletin but apart from PHPbb I haven't tried anything else so my vote is a little biased.

I have used phpbb, smf, vb, mybb and IPB. The best is IPB and then VB. Of course if you have the money you can buy the license. I use mybb for more that a year now and I don't have problems with it. I recommend it!

vBulletin is the best option if I need big forum. For everything else - I use smf. I realy hate phpbb, cause of their awful skins (my opinion) but I think this 3+ versions are very good equipped with features, even better than smf.
