I hate updating crap, would be nice if it auto updated!

This update blows many template updates. 3.7 was supposed to be final this week, I don't mind diving into the templates when it gives members more features but for this security issue that's been present for a long time couldn't they of just rolled the updated into 3.7 and back ported afterwards?
Any form submissions have to be recoded or reverted including quick search on the navbar, vB will auto update it if it's in the navbar template, mine isn't. I don't see any difference between the quick search drop down coding in vB's default template and my custom template's header yet it's throwing an error. vBAdvanced's search box no longer works either; due to some kinda new session key schema. I don't really know what the dealio is right now.
Color me a very unhappy vbulletin customer right now. In the words of Grim...Bahh and Grrrr!!![]()
So is this something I need to do asap?

According to vB, Yes. I did both my boards today. However I wonder how much of a security issue it is, if it's been in there since the 3.6 branch started...I doubt it's as big an issue as vB is making it out to be.. Especially if your a careful webmaster and actually logout of the ACP when you're done making changes.

All plugins which use a form to submit info to vbulletin will also be screwed. This is going to be a lot of work.![]()
Wow, why can places not make an easy to upgrade/update script

Like SMF, when there's an update, you get alerted in the admin and given a link right within the admin to download the files and update right there, it just needs your ftp info.
Kalina added 1 Minutes and 15 Seconds later...
So I believe when I do this, casino will be F****DAmongst other things we use here.

Wow that sucks.
Thank god my vb install doesn't have much I guess![]()

I am still on 3.6.8 .... will upgrade directly to 3.7 gold once out!!!
yes i see 3.6.10
i don't know what this is and what the 3.6.9 ????

All in all if you're running a default setup it's super easy, just run <forum root>/install/upgrade.php. If you're running lots of plugins anything that submits forms is probably going to break.
Customized templates are easily fixed with exception of any custom form placements which need to be recoded. Stuff like the quick search drop down.. If it's in your navbar template it will automatically be fixed with a revert however you'll have to re-add your customizations. If it happens to be in the header line mine is it has to be recoded to work in the new access key schema, I which I haven't quite wrapped my head around yet.. Sorry I cannot be of more help there. For now I'm just removing the quick search drop down and linking "search" to the full search form, search, php.
Hope it helps,
Dan
/me does not understand big words![]()

A vbulletin upgrade is easy and straightforward, you simply upload all the files over your old files, except the config.php, you get the info from the original and put it into the new config.
So, you download the full package, and upload all the contents. In your case, with a fresh vbulletin install, it's a breeze.
As Dan said, once all files are uploaded, run the upgrade file, you'll see how easy it is once you've done it all once.
Then when done, you log into the admincp and see if there's a message about templates needing reverting, you're using the default skin, so there may not be.
In my case, the only files I don't upload over my old is favicon.ico and the images folder.
