    Default Email Verification !!

    Hi,

I own a forum and I was wondering do you think its better for users to verify their email?

I have had users who never got their emails and some who did and some who couldn't be bothered.

Is it really needed and why?

Definitely, unless you want people signing up and spamming.

The automated/spam signups have already been mention, but I like to have a correct email address for all my members. It means that I can get in touch with them if needed and send reminders every so often (6 month+) about inactivity.

If you don't have a lot joining, set it up to email when you get you new members. Then you can zoom in quick to see if they are spamming or there for a genuine reason
