How To Ask a Question
1. Help! I'm stuck and I might need help!
Now, are you sure you need help? Have you attempted in trying to fix the problem yourself? Here's some things you could do before you even post:
- Browse the forum. Did someone else post a similar problem, but get it solved? Check the thread. Follow the tips the other users gave that user to help fix that problem
- Don't limit yourself. WebTalkForums is not the only forum in the world. Google is your friend.
- Read the stickies!
Okay, so now you've done all of the previous steps, and you cannot find a solution to your problem. Now, taken from How to ask a question , this will help you post a proper post to get support. Follow these guidelines:
- What are you trying to do?
- Why are you trying to do it?
- What did you try already, why, and what was the result of your actions?
- What was the exact error message that you received?
- How long have you been experiencing this problem?
- Have you searched the relevant forum/newsgroup archives?
- Have you searched for any tools or KB articles or any other resources?
- Have you recently installed or uninstalled any software or hardware?
- What changes were made to the system between the time everything last worked and when you noticed the problem?
Don't let us assume, tell us right at the beginning.
- Do not make us ask your clarification questions.
- Tell what you have done prior to asking your question.
- Write in a clear language, avoiding spelling mistakes or grammatical errors.
- Use a descriptive topic title. Titles such as "OMG WTF" and "I NEED HELP" will likely be ignored.
2. Read the rules and stickies- Always read the rules when you sign up at a forum.
- Always stick to the rules.
- The stickies are stickied for a reason. Read those too.
- Threads in a forum with the title "Announcements" or something similar should also be read.
