Got to be a mod for this.
So many forums now will let you view the main page, but not the inner pages.
Instead a page pops up to register to read.
Terrible way to get members, and lose visitors to a forum.
You can edit it so that guests can read X amount of posts before they are forced to register![]()

Really?
Have yet to see that implemented on forums.
Just went by a new forum earlier as the owner has a blog I read all the time.
BAM!
You must register on our forum to be able to read any of the threads and posts.
Sent him an email about this....replied that either I want to join the forum or I do not, it does not matter to him!
I replied back...then as I do not matter to you, you sure do not matter to me and all references to your blog will shortly be removed from my blogs.
It depends on the forum, you can set them out of the box so guests can not read certain forums, topics, etc.
What I installed is an add on, allowing 10 post views before registration is required.

Yep there is a force guests to register mod. I have it somewhere. Ill find it and post it when i find it.

There is this one
Limited Guest Viewing -- Motivate Guests to Register - Page 4 - vBulletin.org Forum
It limits guest viewing and forces them to sign up. There was another one I used but I cant seem to find it sorry

NP, I already have it installed and running![]()

what about spider and bots? If they are blocked after certain page views then ur forum will suffer further....

Hey Grim, if you up for it let us know how this works out in the long run. I've always been curious about if it has a positive effect on active membership number.![]()
Re: VB force guest to register
Why not automatically, after 10 page reloads flash up a picture of you Grim, with a snarl, accompanied by the message:
[MENTAL]Register!
Or else this big geezer
will come round your house
and twist your arm. [/MENTAL]
can you link us to the vbulletin mod you are talking bout?
