    Default Vbulletin on 2 servers

    Is the following possible?

Ok say I have VB installed on domain.com but I want to have a premium area of the forum for only certain members at premium.domain.com

Is it possible to have the same license of VB run these, carrying over username, password, group info, etc from the main domain to the subforum?

I want the subforum to be hosted elsewhere than the main forum.

    ?

I believe it will require two licenses. Every production instance of vB requires a separate license. There is a hack on vB.org to share member data between boards. IIRC it's a pretty involved setup.

Personally, I'd avoid having to use a separate license and the headache of syncing user tables between DBs with perhaps a global cookie (.domain.com), subdomain redirected to an indidivual forum, and then use usergroup permissions to control who can access it. If you want the premium section to use a different theme or what ever just force the theme in the forum manager.

It would be more than theme, it would be wanting to have the server in a totally different location for a number of reasons

It'd require 2 licenses as you'll be using 2 databases with different information (maybe same users and the such but the premium one i assume contains other information).

I would actually hope to use the same database, only having a single category of the forum located onto a different server.

    Yo Grim:

You obviously buy their products already (this place is proof) dont they have a support avenue for paying customers to use, where you could ask this question) ????

I do not own this license Kalina does.

Regardless of that, there are knowledgeable people here, plus I'd rather build content here

They'd tell you its possible, would require another license (probably) and to head over to vB.org to get help with it.

Standard response when trying to do something vBulletin was built to do.
