Default Forum Boards and Money's Worth

    Greetings..

I'm planning to have a paid forum software soon..

    Here are my questions:

    1. Based on your experience, which forum software can be easily managed and provides you with ease of administration, community software support : IPB, vBulletin , others (please state).

    2. What's the best approach ? A 1 year lease or 1 year license or others (please state reason) ?

    3. Which board can provide you with features that could get your money's worth ?

    4. Should I REALLY buy either of the two (IPB / vBulletin) or just stick with myBB for my forums ?

    Thanks.

I'm a big vBulletin fan, and the licensing question.. well, do you plan to have the site up more then a year? if so, buy the owned license, if your not sure, just lease it so it's not such a blow to the pocketbook.

    1. vBulletin is definitely the easiest to manage and administer

    2. If you are unsure how sucessful your board will be then get just a years license and see how you go, if you feel confident then go for the owned license option

    3. In my opinion you get your moneys worth with vBulletin due to the features and great support that you get.

    4. As for whether to stick with mybb or not, you need to ask yourself if it is worth you spending the money, will it benefit you? What are the pro's. One thing I will say to you though, is in my experience, people are more likely to join a board that is running on vBulletin than one of the free boards available.

It's more of like a "practice" for myself for a year's worth... its an added skill for my "resume", at least.. ..

I personally would go with phpBB3 and save the money you would have spent on a vBulletin license.
