    Default Forum Revenue: Spent Wrongly...?

Have you ever been across a forum, where Administrator(s) have spent their forum revenue the wrong way. Like not towards the forums/members, just for their own use? Do you think it's okay for an administrator(s) to do that? Whats your views?

Why wouldn't an admin spend it on themselves? There is no 'wrong way' there is only not keeping up with the forum itself no matter revenue based or not.

If they own the forum and there is no partnership, he/she can spend it anyway they want. It is wise until it gets really established to reinvest a large part of the profit but it is their choice rather to do that or not.

    What, like booze and hookers?
    A pez collection from ebay?

    Nope.

Why should the admins give the members any cash at all. We don't come here to be paid.

In my opinion, providing that the forum works well and is reasonably quick and kept up to date, i.e. not running 3 year old software in need of updates then why should the forum owner keep pumping money into the forum? There is only so much money that you can invest into a forum.

In my experience forums do not make mega bucks anyway, plus you need a pretty decent server to run the forum on which can be costly each month, not to mention the licensing cost initially to buy the software, so I can quite understand if the owner decided to use the money that the forum has made for personal use.

Well, Reading all the replies here, I think it's pretty clear.

    Still, why not pop in?

First things first, unless your popular is mega popular, you won't be making big bucks from it, unless you're quite innovative. Even if your forum is mega popular, you've to pay big for running costs etc.

So, all in all, there is a lil' revenue that the forum administrators take up. It's up to them to spend it in the way they want - I won't say that is something wrong. A forum takes quite some time, and dedication to run, so say you're getting $500 a month from a forum, Why not take some of it, and spend some on promoting the forum even more? You get paid for your work, you're not getting it free.

And btw, How is spending money on members/ forums correct way?
