    Default vBulletin - MySQL Downgrade

Anybody know of any way that I can downgrade a vbulletin database from 3.8.1 to 3.74?

I have searched for info on this but can't seem to find anything.

You can try using Impex (vBulletin's conversion system available from the members center).

Here's how I'd try and get it done:

    Backup your current 3.8.1 DB

    Make a new DB

    Download 3.7.x

Install it to the new DB like a fresh board.

Upload Impex to the new install set your source DB to the old DB then try running the import modules.

Again, I don't see why it wouldn't work but I'm not guaranteeing anything. Let us know how it goes.

Good Idea, thanks Dan. I will try that

Purple Rain added 69 Minutes and 56 Seconds later...

I did not manage to get it to work that way, so I went this way about it.

Converted the database to MyBB using their convertor, then converted the MyBB database back to vBulletin using impEX and it worked like a charm. I looked all over for a solution to this and found vBulletin saying it was impossible, but as I have found out, it's not - it just requires a bit of work. Thanks Dan

Glad to hear. Good bit of info for the future too.

One ?: Does the myBB to vB conversion require that users change their passwords?

I know one of them does I forget if it's phpBB, SMF, or myBB has to have users login and change their pw due to the differences in the way they're hashed.

There is a login convert plugin as part of the conversion which allows users to keep their passwords. I would love to see this feature for conversion to vb from other boards. It's so annoying.
