    Default IPB or vB?

I was wondering, is IPB better now than vB 4? I have been hearing 'rumours' that it is, however, I just wasn't sure. Please also take in cost as a factor in this discussion.

How can anyone know given that vB4 has not been released yet! If you heard rumors then someone is making stuff up.

The vBulletin 4 Suite is live over on vBulletin.com: Take a look, vBulletin Community Forum . Despite all the drama surrounding the licensing changes vB 4 is looking pretty good. It's still in beta so I'm sure there will be improvements along the way.

IBP, I cannot really say as I've worked with it very little. I took their demo for a test drive the other day and it was nice but I like vBulletin better mostly because it's what I'm familiar with.

I am managing vbulletin 3 and IPB forums, and I much more like IPB3.
And about vb4 I can't say anything better... But I'll try it after all.

I think VB4 forums is still the best. They are more easy to manage rather than IPB

VB is extremely fast at patching things up. I use it. They issue hot fix right away if there is security related issue. Their support is superb. It is extremely feature rich and number of mods available for it is insane. So i prefer VB more than IPB.

vBulletin is the best forum software out there imho, but vb 3.8 for the win, version 4.0 is a crap.

VBulletin is the industry standard. This very forum uses it, my host's forum uses it, my forums use it, and many leading forums on the web use it.

It is probably the most secure and most powerful to mod.

There is nothing better on the market that vBulletin, but it has its price. But if one can afford it, it is the way to go.

Vbulletin is Pioneer! IPB is not that kind of forum script... Vb is futuristic & powerful for SEO

Both are great but just make sure you update to the latest versions or else there will be security loop holes.

I install IPB on my VPS's Fantastico with CPanel and it auto-updates to the latest version all the time for me.

I use IP.B. I just bought it several weeks ago for my tech forum and I think it was a better decision that getting vBulletin 4.

I've used IPB since the days of IPB 1.2 so I stuck with IPB since I know it inside and out.

My personal preference is vBulletin, however, I'm sure IPB has its advantages.

I have used both, but I still favour vB. To me, it looks and feels more professional.
