vB Question

Ok, I think this is an obvious answer but I wanted to make sure. My forum has so many little bugs and features I can't get to work. If I totally unistall vB and then reinstall it hooking it up to my existing SQL will it keep all my previous posts? Not that I have an active forum but I don't really want to lose the few posts I have. I hoping maybe if I start fresh I won't get it all messed up again... doubtful but it could happen :-)

If you save the settings in config.php, DO NOT REMOVE THE DATABASE, and only remove and replace the files with the settings from the old congif.php in the new config.php, you will be ok.

If your problem is in the database, then you need a different plan.

This is all assuming I understood you correctly.

Back up the database anytime you work on your forum.

Make sure that you do not delete any files like attachments and avatars that are stored in the filesystem and not the database when removing the vB files.

Kim, from what I remember I think the majority of your problems is with the templates. I didn't see any bugs other than that the last time I visited.

Upgrade to the latest vB, 3.6.7PL1, install a new template that's made for 3.6.7PL1 and do your template edits very carefully. BTW, the thanks hack no longer requires template edits.

I did change out the whole template, I think I just messed up so much with different hacks that I don't know if it even worth fixing anymore or just starting fresh. I do need to do the upgrade thoug still, just hesitant because I don't want it to go badly LOL

I've removed all hacks and custom skins, I'd then upgrade, they had me run the install script when my broke a few times, and even though I was already upgraded, the script fixed the database issues.
