    Default I closed my forum

I made the decision to close my forum. In business you have to make decisions, and I was spending way too much time posting on the forum, which was distracting me from my the actual business.

Now I am concentrating on a blog I have created for the business, and I've already started to see an improvement because people would much prefer to link to a blog than a site or forum.

Personally, I think forums have had their day and they are being replaced by social networking sites and blogs.

I hope they haven't had their day. I like them if only to connect with others in the business or ideally your niche. Sorry you had to close yours but it is always good to rationalize your business and put whats important first instead of whats fun. I have trouble with that alot and end up over extended and not getting anything profitable accomplished!

Why every time I think about a forum, I discard the idea after a few days.
Had one once, it was a time killer and never actually made any money.

You made a smart decision to get rid of one time killer and then find a better way to get your visitors into the loop with a blog.

I think you did right. If you want to make business, blog will be more useful for you because of its content and bigger opportunities. Forum is needed for those who want to chat or need a help with some problem. Blog is for those who look for interesting and useful information. But it's only my opinion, having my personal blog I prefer to visit forums like this rather than create my own. Here I can find everything I need. Congradulations with you blog!

I've had to temporarily suspend mine, but that's down to not having the time to keep dleting all the spam every day, if im out in meetings for a couple of days it's a mamoth task when i get back. I've left it up for reference but I'm not sure if i can allocate th time to keep monitopring it so closely myself

    I don't think so.
Discussoing in forum is more convenience than the social networking sites and blogs.
If you have a good forum, maybe your decision will be wrong.

Perhaps closing your forum was the right decision for you. If so, I'm glad you took the step.

But I strongly disagree that forums have "had their day". Blogs, SN, forums - each have their place and use.

So if I am correct you have closed your forum because you have been spending to much time on posting. Wait, you have nearly 1,000 posts here, but then I can understand as this is a nice forums. lol

Na, I agree with you about the amount of work it involves. The spamming is the worst with forums as far as I have heard. I have a forums, but I don't have to much of a problem with this spam issue compared to what others seem to have. Hope it stays this way as well.

Good luck with your blog and eventually I think I will also make a blog.

He's also a great friend and was helping me out with getting the forum going when we first started, but then he got so busy.

One thing I have noticed about this forum is that if you want to click on your own computer to give yourself some reputation, it will normally come up with how much reputation you have received. Obviously you can't give yourself rep, but anyway when I click on my own computer rep icon it does nothing. When I click on others the reputation thing comes up. So to look at my own reputation the only way I can look at it is by right clicking it and opening it a new thread or window. I'm using firefox by the way. Also, I know I can also look at it through my CP and stuff, but doing it from your own post is much easier. Thought that I would mention it just in case you didn't know about this and it's a fault.

Also, sorry to be off topic here.

It seems to be working now. Have you fixed the issue or was it just my computer at the time when it were not working?

It's not actually working properly, it's letting you view it when you attempt to view it on a thanked post. If you view it on a post where you're not thanked, it won't work. I'm still trying to figure it out though.

Yep, I've just noticed it. I was checking again with the thanks post from you, which is why I suddenly thought it must have been my computer.
