HTML is the simplest and most basic code that you can learn, it is also the oldest kind of code.

I would recommend beginning to learn with HTML, once you have HTML down all of the other ones magically begin to make sense.

Most new code anyways is based of of the old yet reliable HTML.

Also HTML sites are the most search engine friendly

You are right BiologyWebmaster that HTML coding is old but mostly used in all designing. When you said that HTML is most search engine friendly it is not true most of sites are based on XML coding although XML build-up site is more friendly with search engine spider.

Thanks Johnsonkelly, that is new to me I am unsure as to what XML is, I thought that was only for mobile sites, sites meant to be seen on cell phones.

Also, I have heard that certain code in horrible for Search Engines to read and work with, try to avoid those. But HTML is not one of these bad ones

Oh that is good to know, thanks, I guess you do learn something new everyday.

I can see how XML could be search engine friendly, everything is so compact, simple and direct in XML

Since you will just be starting, you could use HTML as its the simplest and you could learn it easily.
Once you're familiar and can create great websites with it, you could expand your knowledge and learn other codes.

    goodluck!

Agreed, agreed... once you have a strong handle on html, it gets easier to read, understand and use other coding languages. I'd suggest using a coding program like Dreamweaver, because it will develop much of the code for you and allow you a greater level of creativity.

Most html questions you have can be researched online or learned through online tutorials. When I was first getting started, I ordered some Dreamweaver manuals, but after a day of digging through page, after page of information, I realized most of the information was available online.

Thumbs up Re: Pls help me~

Well, then you're lucky (and unlucky) at the same time. Most web design stuff is always done via HTML + CSS (defined by a designer style sheets) some dynamical scripts and elements are done via JavaScript as addition to the core of a website. So, you should be fine with the HTML.
PHP, Perl, ASP, Ruby are used to code dynamical software and web scripts that most often need to interact with a data base like CMSes (Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal... forums scripts like vBulletin, phpBB and so one...) So, they are more for web developing and coding stuff... not really web design. There is also Flash and Action Script to make more dynamical websites than pure HTML + CSS but imho Flash will be soon a dead duck as new HTML5 and JavaScript can do this all what it couldn't in the past.

    Start from HTML and CSS.
