Thread: How this site is disabling "Saving" pictures?

Now when you right click on the image (in Firefox) and select "View Image", you will see nothing. The image is not appearing and in the address bar it is showing this URL

http://9gag.com/img/invisible.gif

Even if you select "Right Click > Save Image As" you cannot save that picture but that invisible.gif file will be saved.

How is this site protecting images?

I want that script or whatever technique they are using.

Maybe they have a script, but it only works in some browsers?

There is the right click Javascript to disable right clicking but as said before it will not work in ALL browsers. You can probably Google the code snippet and try a few. Some will work, some just won't in certain browsers.

What browser you used to save pics?

Hi,

I run FF. but I save the pic with snipping tool that comes with win 7 I use it all the time. Not only will it save the pic it let's me bring up adobe to edit the pic.

I don't know how that is set up the guy from the computer shop did that for me. He changed a setting somewhere and it opens adobe instead of the default program it had

First guess is it's not a gif at all, and many people suggest being wary of sites that tried to load invisible gifs
