Thread: Which blogging software

So everyone used Wordpress because of all the plugins and the nice easy to use Admin panel, but I keep having thoughts of going with a lesser known blog software. Maybe for the challenge or maybe just to see what else can be done with other software. With textpattern and moveable type both having free versions its worth a try. I have also seen some nice java based software that I would like to try, it just sems to have a lot more to do with the install.

What does everyone think? Is it better to stay with the easy option or to sometimes go in a different direction and use a not so popular blog software?

It's always nice to try new products, but bear in mind some have excellent reputations because they work well, the Internet has a very flimsy attitude to loyalty, if something works everyone ust jumps ship

I prefer blogger and i am working on it from last one year. Its the best for me.

If they have a free version there is nothing stopping you from setting up a few blogs. You will soon develop a preference based on your own personal experience with the platforms.

I really like wordpress robot and I prefer wordpress over blogger, typepad and just about any other format.

IMO, wordpress is the most prefered blogging software used on world wide web. Wordpress is an open source content management system powered by PHP and MySQL. You can simply create beautiful website or blog using their thousands of free editable templates. To secure and optimize your website in search engines, thousands of plugins are available to transform your website into anything you can imagine. Compare to the other two popular CMS, joomla and drupal, wordpress is much simple and easy-to-use and understand interface it has.

Wordpress is great because of the updates, the plugins I don't care too much about, but it's the fact that there's a never ending amount of people working on wordpress.org and developing the software constantly which means we are always up to date.

My vote is with wordpress. I am using it for more then 2 years.

About blogging I can say only that wordpress is the first choice for me and it really works the best rather than blogger and blogspot.

I think there are two good base to work on
1) HTML -- this is the best -- if you can make clean and simple HTML sites then you get much more benefit as you are able to get GGreen points for many SEO parameters

2) Blogging Platform - Wordpress remains the best - the number of plugins it supports, its not possible to have a authority site without proper platform.

Despite the other various platforms, I still believe that Wordpress is upmost the best blogging platform known to most of us. Like you said, the vast amount of plugins pretty much cover all its holes.

Most people would prefer wordpress, it allows you to download a self hosted copy to mess around with. Blogger on the other hand is only hosted on G's infastructures, which means that your account can be locked at any time.

I would say, choose wordpress anyday.

Blogger and wordpress both are best blogging platforms.

Wordpress hands down. Other great tools are wordpress robot and Aweber. Good luck.
