Is Keyword Important in URL for Google Ranking?

I have seen many sites having keyword in URL gaining top rank in google.

Yes, keyword in url is quite important to get good ranking on google, but you have to use short keyword in your domain name because domain name is used to easily remember and spell by people. If you have own a domain name that is a match to a keyword that may helps to get search engine traffic in Google.

Not necessary … Those who says it is essential please give me an example where a website ranked well only because of the keyword in domain.

But there are lot of cases in which a url which is not related to the keywords ranks higher than the url which is includes the keywords.So according to me its not necessary
