Has anyone use Google Knol for article writing?

Does publishing an article on google knol help in gaining search engine ranking?

Please guide.

Yes, posting unique and crisp knols did help at one time.
Unfortunately, W.e.f 30th April, 2012, Google Knol will be discontinued as a service. From 1st May, 2011 to 1st October, 2011, Google knols were no longer be viewable, but could be downloaded and exported.

Generally, Google Knol we use to submit our various content there and as per our experience the links are no-follow and unless you get the trust vote from other members and google you will not get the do follow links. But rare occasion to be truth. Overall good site to publish for content branding.

I used it but it seemed like a waste of time for me. And as mentioned previously it is going away.

It seems to me if Google is going to remove the service it won't be worth any pursuit.

Ya submitting a unique article in google knol will help a lot. But 30th april 2012 will be the last day of google knol.
