Thread: How accurate is Google Analytics?

Can anybody share their experiences about google analytics based on its accuracy? I am having doubts because my blog regularly gets 3000+(3000+ impressions) credit points from 1800banners but in google analytics, it only registers 30-50 impressions with an average bounce rate of 40-60%. There is a big discrepancies their.

From my experience it is quite accurate. I do both AWStats and Analitics for the same site and the difference is in the range of 10%-15%.

why am I earning more in 1800Banners? the earning ratio is I get 2 credits for every 3 impressions, so it I am getting far more that 3000+ impressions. 1800Banners does even say if they are giving me free credits, because I have lots of(more the 40k). I think google analytics can capture certain data?

Google Analytics is quiet accurate. I also use awstat to counter check my site status.

Use another alternative tool. Try statcounter.

Sometimes it doesn't show the exact figure. I know that I have more, but it shows a different figure. I don't know why.

I have another indication that google analytics is not able to capture my other traffics like I am getting at least 20 hits from entrecard for the past 1 week but is not showing up in the analytics, why is that?

Google Analytic is not accurate IMO. Like for example someone visit my websites now, the record will be shown by tomorrow.. Am I right?

Google Analytics shows accurate result so you should not doubt on it.

The counter stat from Google is very accurate, don't get second thoughts about it. Just go ahead.

It is often accurate but sometimes approximate - some fogures in my practice were wrong.

why am I still getting around 40 to 60 hit from it, but my alexa ranking has gone down from 3M to 745k?

I am also seeing this problem. In google analytics I come to know we have got direct visits on a new page. Where snurl data shows 15 visits from twitter. Which is correct...

i access my analytical account on my site and has good result from them. if you looking for overall site map then this is the best place to find exact report about your site.

Yes it's quite accurate but sometimes it's not working properly.I've experienced before that it didn't read my sites stats for a week.I check the code but it's working properly but it didn't give me the data.

some time ago i wrote an article about google analytics, in my opinion You should have more than one statistics available to comapre the result, and have more accurate data.

I don't use it much either

then use other tool for your monitoring. I use Google Analytics but I don't see any problem with it. Maybe it is because some are filtered and also the problem with analytics, it doesn't give report on the present time, doesn't track in real time, hence, you'll need to wait until tomorrow.

For me Google Analytics is not that much accurate but what I like on it is it shows me which geographic location I get most of my traffic.

doing some experiment with Adsense and clickbank right now - it is very strange, according to clickbank I had almost 80 hops ( clicks ) today, according to Analytics there was only 65 pageviews today, and according to my hosting statistics there was 96 pageviews today :P... so, I'm assuming, that today pageviews were somewhere in the middle of 70 and 90 ... that's good for 12 days product, right? :P

Hi google analytics is very accurate.Its showing that because some might be rapidly clicking your banner and analytics only counts one unique click form each ip address i too use google analytics for my blog

Do too much reliance on google analytics. Using two analytical tools to separate analysis of your site is better.

Google analytic is the best way to provide the exact way to provide the useful information

I use Analytic plus Awstats in my CPanel to complete the statistics.

I would say it is a very accurate solution. However, i rarely use it these days preferring instead to use using simpler like statcounter.

I think it is quite accurate plus it shows more result than the others. I suggest that you use other tool and compare it your self for you to know if its accurate or not.

Yes Google Analytics is accurate but sometimes it may give the wrong information. As a lively example, I will check the Google Analytics on daily basis for my site "blackhawkpartners" and when my client installed some other tool to know the number of visitors, the number which I got from Google Analytics and the number which My client has got is totally different.

In my experience, in Google Analytics we cannot say the traffic to the particular blog or website is most accurate. Because, when I check the same thing in like "bizinformation.org" (where we can check the visitors to the website/blog), there I can check that it all opposite to Google Analytics. In Google Analytics my site "Blackhawkpartners" get only 200-300 visitors per day but, in biz information i can find more visitors like 2000-3000 visitors per day. We cant say the exact algorithm that Google Analytics or any other is following.

Well you can rely completely on google analytics but i think it gives you 80 to 85 percent correct data!
