Like you I have read way too many posts about "How to do SEO." Many if not most of them are created by people who are not SEO guru's and it shows.

There is almost always an element that is missing in these posts...

And it is the most important aspect of successful SEO...

That missing piece is the Competitive Review.

If you do not know what your competitors have done and what they are currently doing you are then at a distinct disadvantage.

At this point SEO without a competitive review is like playing the lottery.

Good point. Knowing what the competitors has done can also show you their mistakes.

Remember though The only competition we have is the competition we make for ourselves.

It amazes me sometimes how little people understand SEO in general. At the end of the day its about doing basic SEO and linking building. It's about doing these tings better than your competition.

So the first place to start is to find out what your competition is doing. In this regard, SEO is like a sporting event. Just one that never ends!
