Thread: About Google and back links

Hi everybody,

Does anybody know why Google does not see all the back links? This is the same case as Yahoo or Bing. I believe Google counts these links as one as they come from the same domain and site. But there is such a huge difference between these search sites. For example my site in Yahoo shows about 1000 links while in Google it shows a paltry 15 back links. So why does Google not see these links? What are the criteria that I should be looking for on a website before placing a link, to make Google recognize it? Please give me some suggestions.

My Translation = Google is Cheap and Doesn't Want to Buy More Servers or Use Up the Servers they already have.

Also, Google does not want webmasters knowing the exact number of backlinks they have, or knowing where all of these backlinks come from. Once again google keeping webmasters in the dark about their own sites.

So in Google's eyes, it is ok for Google to know every single link that points to us, but yet webmasters cannot even know who links to them even it being their own site.

Google crawls dofollow links and good pr links. And yahoo/Bing crawls all nofollow and dofollow link even of 0 pr and NA sites.

Backlinks are assist to get better the PR of site. To receive more backlinks you must do forum posting with unique content.

yeah this is secret for the webmaster that from where the particular site getting backlinks from other site .. no one knows the exact algorithm for this ..... so the only thing is keep your efforts toward site.

Google does report our backlinks much better than Bing and Yahoo, but they do it in Google Webmaster Tools in the links section. They do this to prevent other sites from using their data. They only display a sample of your links to the public, and they display all your links to the webmaster.

I used to think it was a case of quality over quantity but that is surely not the case. They seem to grab a bunch of links at random rather than just the better ones. Maybe they do it to protect the integrity of their search results.

If you use the link operator in a google search box it will only show you a small percentage. I guess it can help prevent others from seeing your links. Google webmaster tools will show more, but I really don't believe it shows them all in there either. I took a break for a number of months and they slowly started dropping in google webmaster tools. We hear that google only passes page rank with dofollow links, but in webmaster tools I see plenty backlinks that are actually nofollow. I guess they like to keep you guessing about your own site too.

They do only pass pagerank through dofollow links, but that doesn't mean nofollow links are worthless. Visitors still click on nofollow links, so Google shows them to you.

Good to know. Where from you come to know this about Yahoo & Bing?

One of the common requests I hear from webmasters is “Why doesn’t Google show me most or all of my backlinks?” Well, as of today, Google’s webmaster console will now let you see your site’s backlinks. Major props to the webmaster console team for this new feature. A few things to know:

- The backlink tool doesn’t show 100% of the backlinks from Google yet, but I expect the number of links that are available to grow.
- In particular, for my site I was easily able to see more than 10x more links in this new tool than the link: command gave me. The link: command has always returned a small fraction of the backlinks that Google knows about, mainly for historical reasons (e.g. limited disk space on the machines that served up “link:” data).

Dear Writer's
The difference between Google and other sites searching very highly.And Google is very useful in the shame of searching and you will also searching.

It is not that Google can't see all of your backlinks. It's just that Google dont show all of your backlinks and many of those are simply not counted by Google that's why it only shows few of your backlinks.
