Hi, tell me are Alexa's traffic rankings accurate !

You will find a lot of arguments about alexa rank. It is easy to manipulate. Most of the data is based on the alexa toolbar. If you have alexa toolbar installed on your browser and visit a page it counts towards increased rank. Visit often or have many visitors and friends with it installed that visit your page and more rank. Visit several pages and it counts even more towards your rank. Come back and do it again in 24 hours and repeat. That is how it is often manipulated.

It is however more accurate for the top 100. Maybe even slightly more. Alexa does provide some interesting stats. I peek at it sometimes. I just don't hold a lot of value or confidence in the rank part.

I would say Alexa ranking was more an indication of a site's popularity, rather than a definitive answer. gameutopia is right about the toolbar, but Alexa also have other visitor detection methods like the Sparky Firefox plugin, widget etc.

Alexa can not tell you accurate traffic i dont believe in alexa ranking its meaningless thing for me..

Alex is the most popular website which has many software to track the website perfomance. If we talk about the Alexa traffic rank then the fisrt thing is that, it shows the traffiic according to the Alexa toolbar. If some one has alexa taffci tool bar installed on his browser then it shows good alexa result.

Alexa traffic ranking is only for counting the traffic, lower will be alexa rank higher will be traffic. For example alexa rank of google is 1 and traffic is highest and followed by facebook whose alexa rank is 2.

Alexa ranking seems not to be accurate, so which other tools do you use to check website stats?

Alexa has no meaning for rating a site for me.

I know of websites that have a ranking of 2 millions that are no. 1 in Google over sites with better figures in Alexa. As far as I am concern, I only use some statistics from Alexa to compare websites.

As Google is the most used search engine, their ranking is important. To reach to the top, I use 1-Content, 2-SEO, and 3-Adwords. And it helped me and my clients to get great results.

You cannot just rely on Alexa as youtr basis, you should use different tools or program for comparison.

I believe its a yes. Alexa base their rankings in the number of traffic that a site receive. It's their own algorithm so I think it would be definitely yes.

Alexa give ranking to websites according to their quality and traffic. Now a days, Google has maximum traffic then it's Alexa Rank is 1 followed by facebook and youtube.

I find Alexa good for the top 100'000 sites, the higher you get the more inaccurate it gets'.

It really has no point unles you can get it into the top 100'000 but that's really hard. Just focus on Google.

Generate tons of traffic and you can get a good ranking in Alexa. Alexa ranking is based on the number of traffic generated.

I don't believe more it Alexa ranking..

Sometimes we refer to it when looking for sites to place our links with or when offering link exchange. And we choose only the top 100, 000. But that's about our take in Alexa.
