Each search engine has its own algorithm and being indexed in one search engine does not guarantee the others. If you follow all the best practice guidelines you should eventually appear in the others. I would recommend you go for the search engine which has the highest search volume which is usually Google, then wait for the others to come.
Looking for an SEO agency? Make sure you do your research properly.
Yahoo also tends to regard backlinks from different sites as more important then Google which accounts for the difference.
As to the traffic, it really depends on what your site offers. For example, if your site was selling items like viagra pills, and items for older people, I would spend my time trying to get a #1 page position on Bing since Bing has a user demographic with a high percentage of people from 55 to 65 years old.
Google is far quicker than Yahoo at providing your pages to searchers.
After a year on line, I'm now seeing larger numbers of visits from Yahoo, but for the first six months it was almost nothing.
Also, I do believe Yahoo still looks at meta. So if you're optimizing for Google, you might as well include everything you can on your pages, whether you're told Google ignores it or not.
It only takes a few extra minutes in the grand scheme of things, and if it gets you more traffic from other search engines in the future it's definitely worth it.
Remember, Google isn't the only SE out there. Sure, they have the lions share of search, but they could drop a PR bombshell tomorrow and you could be left in the cold if masses of people migrate to another SE that you haven't bothered optimizing for.
Think it can't happen? Just look at the PR mistakes Google, Facebook and Apple have made recently. People enjoy a good protest.
If you really want to be good on Yahoo, I suggest you create a Yahoo friendly page on your site. Optimise it for Yahoo. And then submit that page to Yahoo.
But as said before, if your site is good on Google, the other search engine will follow.
Just continue optimizing your site to google. If you get succeed on google, then there's no way you can't in yahoo.

I think its a yes. Although Google and Yahoo has different algorithm, if you already got a good ranking in Google, it means you can easily rank in yahoo too because yahoo is said to base their ranking in the number of backlinks.

It is batter to submit your site to yahoo also.
