Finally Google URL Shortener is announced by google for public

http://goo.gl/

You can not only shorten your URL but to also create a list of all the URL's you've used with their service. That list will save us so much time.

Very nice, I have been using tinyurl & bit.ly for a while now, but I'm definitely going to start using / testing goo.gl now that's public

If it comes from the Googleplex its probably good stuff, if a bit intrusive, but it is the nature of the beast.

I agree. I wonder what what kind of information they're harvesting through this service.

Looks good but I don't think I will switch from bit.ly given that Google's shortner is linked to one's account. I prefer some information to remain anonymous.

I don't know if it is only me or not but on the clicks analytics page the complete URL of site is not appearing. See this pic

Yeah, I've been using it already and so far I like it a lot.

goo.gl has alot more function than your usual URL shortener. It really is a great help.

I'll bet. I also wonder if it works to webmaster's advantage where if a page has not been indexed yet, then goo.gl could be another way for Google to know new URLs that it hasn't found yet. It would only make sense if they use it to index new pages.

I just woke up and am half asleep.

I thought people used those service to post links they didn't want found. Or place that would not allow you to list your own site links as away around giving links to yourself.

You know what? That's also true since it works as a cloaker. There are people who's intent is to use it for that. But, do you think Google cares about what people want to keep private?

Well what is the difference between google shortner and other google shortners like bit.ly and Tinyurl?

Very cool, this is the first place I heard about this. I still don't understand why they want to get into this market though, must have been a Google Labs project.

Google shorteners differs to bitly because Google shortener has no social networking features built in, while Bitly has. and in just one click you can submit it to different Social networking sites.

appears beneficial but I don't guess I will switch from bit.ly given that Google's shortner is linked to one's account. I choose some data to remain anonymous.
