Thread: Google vs Facebook

As we all know both are the giants in realm of the web but in two different way. Google is the biggest SE while FB is the biggest Social Networking sites. There are more than 500 million user in FB. And more that 5 billion min. time is spent on FB per months. Simultaneously people is leaning towards facebook ads. The question is that will facebook ads beat Google adwords? Will Google let FB dominate like this? The rumor is that Google is coming up with new Social networking site 'Google me'. Share your thought on this.

yea i think google need to come very fast with any networking site, which can help to help some good ad world with them.

I agree. Google and Facebook excel on their own terms. Google is far excel as search engine and facebook as social networking site. Google can't beat facebook in social networking just as facebook can't beat Google in search engine.

Well, Google has a history of jumping into other areas and doing well, Android Phones just to name one, If I was Mark, I would be just a tiny bit nervous. LOL

I don't even belong to FB. From what I have seen those members are pretty hardcore. Their are many other places like FB people could use right now I don't think G will be able to pull members away.

It will not mean the death of Facebook as it is well and truly established. However, if Google wants a share of a particular market then it will probably get it.

two companies with very good growth rate. i like them both.

There is no need to compare those two. Google is search engine (with some additional helpful tools), while Facebook is nothing but social network place.
They are both at the top of the world in their fields.

I totally agree with jeffjohnson. Google & Face book both are No1 in there position. Google is No 1 Search Engine & Face book No.1 Social Networking site in the world.

FB is better for advertising but only to popular a product but if a user need some product then he'll not go through Facebook then he'll look after Google.

face book is biggest social networking site & Google is biggest search engine. Google is bigger than Face book. Google have many user than Face book.

A lot of people dont like fb, Im one of those but am there only to play mafia wars. If google could get zynga on their side as well as move everyones zynga game accounts moved over to their social site. FB will be ruined!! Way too many rules that they have,they take away accounts and wont give them back. Most members of FB have at least 5 accounts if they are gamers.

Well I hope that google me could be interesting like facebook. because I thought before that Google Buzz is their facebook version. And I don't like Google Buzz it's boring.

I don't see how Google and Facebook can't coexist. I think sure they both have social networks but they niche in different markets. Google has YouTube while Facebook is a lot more social oriented.

I don't think anybody can ever compete or topple Google in the search engine department. But Facebook? I am not entirely sure if it will stay on top forever in the social networking department. I mean, Friendster and MySpace used to be really popular.. But a few years after and with the presence of new social networking sites, these two have seen better days. Who knows, a few years from now, FB's popularity might start to wane because a new social networking site is proven better and with more amazing features.

Google and Facebook are different in many ways, they can't be compared with each others because they provide different services.

Both have their own market but we can compare them in terms of "content network".
