Keyword in domain name is always preferred but is there any truth in the statement that keyword in domain can have negative effect especially when someone is offering download services.

It is always preferable to have a keyword in your domain name. I cannot speak for download services though.

How come that it would have a negative effect if it helps in increasing your keyword rankings?

No, it won't have any negative effect. A fact that google is considering such domains more, which have keyword phrases in their domain names. As most of the people today are searching for services using long-tail keywords and it is one of the best way to get your main keywords optimized easily in search engines.

So far I have never heard about any negative effects, but instead I've heard thousands of times about how positive it is and how domain keyword can help you to rank better.

Keyword in domain name will be ranked soon,if the website is having a pr,..It is good to have a high visited keyword with high competition as a domain name,..because gradually the visits also increases and helps in getting more revenue..

Keyword in domain its really very useful for search engine to optimize. If your keyword in Title and url it will get rank very fast.

I don't think it has any negative effect. Infact if we have keyword in domain name then it is the best from SEO point of view as it helps it improving the rank very effectively.

what is worth of downloading from a keyword rich domain or non keyword rich domain. Because most important is traffic or serp that comes easily in case of keyword rich domains.

Keyword in domain name helps, there is no doubt about this, but i never experience or read that it has negative effect in SEO.

If the domain name is the keyword, then obviously it will show in the top results of the search engine. I don't think it can have any negative effect and actually i have never heard about any such things. BTW what will be the negative effect if download service? We love to know new things.

Yes I agree, but still it depends on your competition.

Keyword in domain name does not give negative effects. But it gives best result in bringing your site to the top ranking of the google ranking.

The only negative effect I can foresee in having a keyword domain is you want to have a keyword that is descriptive but has little competition to make it easier to rank in Google, etc. The more popular the keyword, the harder you have to work to rank well as there will be more competition.

You can't do any better IMO than a keyword or keyword phrase domain.. many are still available if you're not set on .com only. US citizens can benefit from using .US and many are still available in .INFO. If you don't mind using hyphens especially, you can still snag many very good keyword phrase domains.
