    Default Is no script frowned upon

    I have recently been looking at the page source on other peoples websites and have seen no script tages at the bottom of the page, is this considered to be black hat seo or is there nothing wrong with it.

    A no script tag can be placed in code so that it doesn't not appear on the page so you can put anything in there like a link or text this will obviously boost seo an example is:
    <noscript>
    <a href="http://www.gateswooden.com">wooden gates</a> | <a href="http://www.networkveka.co.uk">conservatories</a>
    <a href="http://www.gateauto.co.uk">electric gates</a> <a href="http://www.candy-licious.net">retro sweets shop</a>
    </noscript>
    I saw this on www.barnsley.ac.uk I'm pretty sure they don't know it's there, hope this is a little clearer

    For some reason it posted the same comment twice please disregard this one

    Yes got your point. And now I am sure that it comes under black hat SEO techniques and they may get banned if Google encountered this or some one complained about them. These all tricks are hated by Google.

    If there is not an accompanying script tag with the same information, I would think that usage is very much black hat. There is a legitimate use too, though. The no script tag should be used to describe the contents of a script tag for users that do not have java script enabled. In that case, you are showing the same content to both users.

    No.

    Noscript is a perfectly good tag to use on a website - infact, it is encouraged.

    As long as you are not using it for keyword stuffing or other black hat techniques and it is infact providing relavent alternatives for non JS users then it is fine.
