What do you think of this logo?

I'll be honest with you Steph.

I am sick of seeing the basic house roof outline that you can find on probably about 1,237,564 real estate websites. Its soooo cliche and over done.

Besides that the font you used is nice. I would maybe lighten up the drop shadow behind the text to a lighter grey. Maybe 25% lighter, or more. Will make the blue pop a bit more.

yea, I'm kinda tired of it too, but I'm at a loss for original ideas. I'm working on something with maybe a sun in it or something

Yes, thats an idea. Play on the florida angle more so than the real estate angle. Make the logo happy and cheerful.

Why not hold a design contest over at sitepoint, or even digitalpoint?

DP logo contests have gone downhill and contest prices have been driven down to next to nothing. $25 for a logo? Give me a frikin break! The cheap contests don't attract as much talent, mostly amateurs. Most of the pro's that used to participate just stick to sitepoint now who maintain a minimum prize level.

volume matters

At this stage of the forum member base it might be a matter of how critical a top notch logo would be, I suppose. Not that nobody here couldn't produce something incredible but if a killer logo was critical to a project then one of those pointy forums might be better. Until of course this place of coolness grows to the point were there is a solid number of top notch designers lurkin and entering contests.

The layer styles are terrible, and the font is a poor choice for readability.

It looks quite unprofessional, and definitely wouldn't attract too many clients.

chaka42 is just one designer we have here who makes wonderful logos, I hire her for all my projects.

We can't encourage contests here and get more designers here without at least trying to promote the contests forum, lol.

I know you're new to all this, professional web design, so I think it will help, it helps me and still does.

I'm not really into it. it looks a whole lot like Century 21.

I won't be holding a contest because I'll come up with an idea. I was just getting an opinion on the idea I had. I wanted to be sure I wasn't the only one tired of that kind of logo.

Actually I'm not new to professional web design, i've been doing it for years. But since I work on ships too I haven't been promoting all that much. Thanks for the link!!

i have seen them kinds of logo's all over...
