PhotoShop Help

Ok, this may be hard to help me with, but how do I insert a pic into a header I am creating in Photshop? I already have the header sized 773X1000 as instructed by Deadlock, but I wanted to insert a pic and can't figure it out. Anyone have any ideas?

How are you inserting it? Have you got the image copied via right click - copy / ctrl+c or are you trying to get an image from your HD on to the layer?

If the first one.. just simply click file - new image and then ctrl+v when it opens all the way up. (Hit ok through the other stuff).

If the second one... open it (File - open) and then ctrl+a on the whole image. Ctrl+c now, and then click on to the other window and ctrl+v it.

Yeah, what Buckeye said is how you do it. You can't drag a .gif onto the platform unless you go Image>Mode and check RGB color, then it can be dragged over. You click V on the keyboard to make use of the Move Tool.

Thank you Buckeye for the help. Now one more question for all you photoshop experts. If I wanted to just cut out say Buskeyes head on his avatar for example, is ther e an easier way then physaically treying to trace him out. I want to take out the background basically.

Thought I'd keep asking since you all know what your doing :-)

I always just mask using the magic wand or similar method!

The magic lasso can be your best friend. Look here.. this is a before and after the magic lasso with one of my girls.

That's very bland too. Should you have major rough issues, you can use the round eraser and smooth them out.

I need to modify a logo in photoshop, and I can't remember how to copy the patterned background so I can cover up the current text with it to match the background and put in my own text... major brain issues today.Anyone know?

like duplicating the layer you mean?

Kind of, although it is a gif so there aren't layers. I need to take the background which is a gradient blue with pinstrips and cover up the text with the background so I can put my own sitename on it.

Make sure you make the image RGB Color, so it's not flat, so you can drag layers on it. To do this, open the image, then go to Image>Mode>RGB Color, it will currently be Indexed Color.

Using the rectangular marquee tool, select a section of the pattern where it has no text, copy it.

Then paste it over the text, duplicate the layer you just pasted, move the new layer over so it's touching beside it, keep doing this til the text is hidden underneath.
