I've been using it for nearly three years and have become quite handy with the program, still new stuff to learn like with anything, but I can call myself very experienced with the software.

To learn the basics of it, and make those "cheapy web2.0 logos" you would need about a month. To start actually designing professionally, 3 years (just hit that a couple days/weeks ago). That's with practicing each day.

I don't think I will ever master it. I'm banging my head against a brick wall with it right now too. Ill never fully get the hang of it.
If you enjoy art and designing then just buying the program as a hobbie is worth it.

I plan to learn Photoshop CS2 or CS3... considering my wired internet connection is yet to be installed weeks from now.. (I'm online using my cellphone as modem, plugged into the computer... and the speed is horribly slow.. I have to turn off image loading to speed up the page loading process... Grrrrr)
Can you guys recommend your personal favorite website that caters to photoshop how to's and stuff ?
At least, I can go to an internet cafe, load up the photoshop tutorial website, save the page in a flash drive and practice photoshop at home.
Thanks.

While I am in fact master of my domain, I am far from a PS master.
Of course I use PS for photo editing, not design.
I probably only utilize about 34% of the power of the program though...I think it's fairly easy to pick up if you're familiar with similar programs though

You can learn photoshop pretty easily - but as far as mastering it - it depends on how much time you spend on it...
Well, I started with developing my home made pictures in PS aprox. 4-5 years ago. And when i'm started to work on design and related projects i've started to use CorelDraw, I'd say Corel works fine when creating uniqie logos
I think it takes years to be the master of photoshop . But at the same it takes only a day tool learn the basic required tools .
It took me two years to explore the most of opportunities photoshop supplies. But it really doesn't take much to study the basis

I never got the hang of it, so I'm back to using Jasc's Paint Shop Pro from 1998, haha...
What is this word, "master?" You can do that!?

To do mastery in any thing is not an easy process.Creativity doesn't end.We just need 15 days to learn Photo shop. After that you need to practice. This is a never ending process. Its just like an ocean of knowledge.Daily you will get some thing new to know. So, never judge like this.Just keep on practicing.
I think If you are really dedicated it won't take you long. 3-4 months you can become something.

I am not afraid to admit my ignorance about using Photoshop..I have never used Photoshop for anything.
Hence I do not know anything about it.
So I am far from being a Photoshop Master

Photoshop is VERY extensive in the features it offers which is why it took me about 2-3 years to master every single aspect. Of course even today I am still learning the quirks of the software. It has endless possibilities in many aspects.
I have been using Photoshop for 12 years now and there's still things in it that I've never even looked at yet.

Since 2002 I've been a Photoshop guru. The benefits over the other graphical editors are just immense I think.
I don't see the point of the other software on the market. Photoshop has the best features and support out there which leaves a huge community to learn from.
it depend on your interest if you are really interested in being a master of Photoshop you can do as fats as you can
it depend on your interest . if you have a higher % of interest that you can be master of Photoshop easily and even quicker

Very true. I've seen such dedicated people learn Photoshop and master all of the functions in 2 years. They are now doing freelance work making the big bucks which is amazing. There is more to design and web design than just Photoshop though. Illustrator and Dreamweaver are also very important in this industry.
it depend on your interst that how much interst you have in that software
